2010 CrossFit Games

December 15th, 2009, by

The 2010 CrossFit Games season is upon us. Because of the extraordinary success of the '09 Games, they have added another layer of qualifier. Last year, the Regionals were the starting point for potential individual competitors. This year, you must qualify for the Regionals via a Sectional first. Here is all of the information:

Midwestern Sectional
3683 New Town Blvd. St. Charles, MO 63301
February 12-14, 2010
Top 30 men, 30 women qualify for Regionals

North Central Regional
Denver, CO
April 30 - May 2, 2010
Top 4 men, 4 women qualify for CrossFit Games

CrossFit Games
Los Angeles, CA
July 16-18, 2010

Sectionals will be open to anyone, but participants, as well as spectators, will need to register quickly because they may have to cut it off at some point. I will post to our website as soon as registration is open.

As for the Affiliate Cup Challenge, affiliate teams will have to qualify to compete in the Games this year. This will take place at our Regional. There will be no team workouts at the Sectionals. More information about the Affiliate Cup competition should be coming soon.

If you are interested in competing at Sectionals as an individual or Regionals as part of our Affiliate Team, please email Bill and make your intentions known. There will be some additions to our regular programming for those competitors.

Finally, we would like to encourage EVERYONE to make plans to attend the 2010 CrossFit Games with us. Talk to anyone who went last year and they are sure to tell you about the awesomeness that you missed out on. Don't let that happen again! At the very least, we expect most of you to make the road trip to St. Louis in February to support your fellow CrossForters at Sectionals.

  • Sectionals, regionals, then the games. Wow looks like time to get sponsors to help defray costs.

I definitely want to go and support in Aromas. In my curent state I'd get smoked by the Masters division.

  • Count me in for the CrossForters Road-trip-a-palooza! St. Charles, here comes the Fire!

As for the Affiliate Cup, I'll definitely be trying out. If I don't make it I'll be in Aromas for SHIZZLES my FIZZLES!

  • Well I don't think I'll be able to try out for the affiliate cup team (nor am I in good enough shape to make the team) because I'll be welcoming two new children into the world a few weeks prior to the games, but I'd possibly be interested in supporting you guys in MO for the sectional, I was planning a snowboarding trip that weekend, but this may be a better/cheaper option, too bad this one isn't in Denver, by that is the Presidents day weekend so it's a holiday that monday for some of us.

  • Well, since there is no way in hell I would compete (you know, I can't break a nail and all :) ) I'd like to come out and support the team! Would even participate in additional training...again, watch the nails! :)

Also, noting Sparky's comment, funds should not keep our folks from competing if they commit to giving their all. Maybe, Mr Bill, we can arrange for some funding events to help out...thoughts? I'm willing to help.

  • Glady's and Sparky are spot on. Getting to the Games will definitely be a daunting task financially for some. We are already working on some fundraising and sponsorship ideas and will ask for everyone's help once the time comes. We are a very hard working family of CrossForters and will be able to make this happen. If any of you have an idea, please don't hesitate to throw it out there.

  • I feel so special that my blog was referenced *blushing*

Anyhow, we'll have to do some brainstorming. I know certain teams/organizations can go to grocery stores like Jewel and for a week a certain percentage of the profits goes to that organization. Just a thought.

Oh... Tom, did we ever find out that name to the song on the video? Please, if anyone knows the name to the song on the video that Tom linked let me know. It's going to drive me crazy again.

  • I love Brit's blog - clever, witty writing makes for an enjoyable read.

STILL do NOT know the name of that song. I gave up. But like yourself, Brit, it still haunts me.
