Here's the deal; we all know that the ultimate goal of CrossFit and proper nutrition is health and longevity, right? Right. But what about the amazing beach body? What about the ripped Bill Yundt abs? What about the Severson shoulders? The Jansen Legs?
WE ALL WANT THAT STUFF TOO.
And you know what, that's ok. I'm going to come out and say that it's OK for you to come to the Fort and bust your tail because you want to look sexy. I don't care WHERE you find your motivation to keep coming, as long as I get to see your smiling faces a few times a week. Watching you succeed is my therapy. It's the best part of EVERY DAY for me. And in order to amplify my own pleasure, I am throwing out this to you guys:
The CrossFit Fire 60 Day Better Body Challenge.
This is a simple challenge. Whoever makes the most dramatic improvements to their physique by October 31st, 2009 wins. I don't care how much weight you lose...that's not what this is about. This is about looking SEXY. We will measure and take pictures of you, and pictures will be posted on the 60 day challenge contestants page for everyone to see. Men will be photographed without their shirt in a pair of gym shorts, and ladies will be photographed in shorts and a sports bra. Now, this might send you running for the hills. "I don't want people to see me in my bra". Tough beans. It's a requirement for this challenge. Plus, it's the ultimate motivation. Not too long ago I posted pictures of myself on the CrossFit discussion boards. Over 30,000 people saw me in my bikini with my bra fat hanging out, and not a SINGLE PERSON had anything negative to say. Remember that our audience is a group of CrossFitters, and we all love you. You can do this.
In order to make this a serious challenge, there has to be prizes. Anyone can participate, but if you want a chance to win the GRAND PRIZE, you're gonna have to pay to play. The entry fee will be $40 for those who want to be eligible for the prizes. Winner takes all! The total cash value of the challenge will be dictated by how many participants we have (obviously). In addition to the moolah, the winner will take home a FREE TSHIRT! Oooh....now it's getting SERIOUS!
How will the winner be decided? Easy. We're going to vote. After the final pictures have been uploaded on October 31st, the CrossFit Fire staff will determine the champion. If you'd like to write us letters and try to bribe us to choose the person you feel most worthy, please feel free.
Sounds easy, right? This is a very simple challenge, but it will be without a doubt one of the hardest things you'll have to do. We would like each contestant to blog about what they are eating, and how many days a week they're coming to the Fort. Your blog will be linked on the contestants page for all the world to see.
Who's going to be the first to sign up? In order to participate, you must be measured and photographed prior to September 8th.

Okay, okay, I'm thinking about it.
On another (but vaguely related) note - will there be another visitation by the nifty folks with a warm tub in the trailer this November, or somesuch? November only comes to mind as it'd be 6 months since they were last out, but, well- I've been curious.
...Still thinking, Jennie. Any suggestions on where/how to deal with the blogging part?

Beth - I can help with the blogging part, it's not nearly as hard as you think it might be. Very simple.
http://www.blogger.com
Set it up for free and get rollin'. A lot of us actually keep our own blogs. In fact, I'd venture to say that you'd be surprised by how many of us keep our own blogs.
I started it for a few reasons:
1) I tried to keep a written book at the gym but couldn't do it. I would write my results in the book, but my hand would be shaking from the WOD, I couldn't read my own writing and I was sweating all over the pages.
2) It's a way of capturing your thoughts and ideas.
3) You can track progress easily and with as much detail as you wish. Those that know me well enough can attest to the details I track.
4) It's another way to fuel your competitiveness. I have some friends that I compete intensely against and we watch each other's blogs. It keeps me motivated because I see what their doing and vice versa.
Not naming any names, but for those that do blog feel free to raise your hand and speak up.
Any questions - feel free to ask.

*Raises hand*
I'm not the best about getting daily results in, though I intend to start doing that and being more diligent about tracking my intake for this little 60-day challenge we got goin' on 'round herr.

I'm in, not real keen on anyone other than Mrs. Ritchie seeing me in my birthday suit, but I trust that Zach won't keep a copy for himself
I need something to help me stay disciplined on the nutrition side, this should do the trick. Oh and I was wondering can the judges compete or is that a conflict of interest?
September 2, 2009, 7:51 am
I'm thinkin bout it. My advantage is that I'm so fat and out of shape that any progress may be dramatic.

I have a blog, don't do much with my daily diet on there, but it wouldn't be hard to start. If you want to look at it or follow it, you should be able to get to it by clicking on my name to the left. I like wordpress better than blogger, it offers a lot more functionality, but it is a touch more tricky.

I am thinking about it too, but Mark will say I am doing it.
Anyway...I guess this is one way of pushing me faster to my goal of looking good (oh yeah...and being healthy)!! It will keep me on track with my diet as well because if everyone is looking at it, then you really have to do well!
September 2, 2009, 5:50 pm
This is exactly what I need to jump start my nutrition! Also, I will be held accountable and a little healthy competition never hurt anyone. However, I'm leaving for vacation this Saturday. Jennie, can you take my photos (yikes) before then?

I've got plenty of mental pics staring Mark Ritchie to keep me busy for a while
Heath! Welcome to CrossFit Fire. Rob the Bruce has been excited about your joining the Fort. Good luck to you!
And NO MORE "thinking" about IT! Just do it. Doesn't matter if you win or lose, fall off the wagon the first day or week. This is a permanent change. Something that will take a lifetime to master. Without that first step there is no progress.
Good luck to everyone.

Ok, I am thinking this would be a great time to get back in!! I am afraid about this picture b/c someone did a number on my body!!! ha! Looks like I will be seeing ya soon!!

2nd Post....sorry
But since I just decided, I thought this would be the right thread to mention this...
A lot of you probably got the email, but if you did not, I'm going up to the farm to get meat next Thursday. If you need an order form, (or just want to look at it) email me @ blackearthmeats@earthlink.net It is all GrassFed, is super fresh, and not crazy expensive like Whole Foods.

Jennie, Bill how about for all those of Crossfit Fire who are already in good shape have a contest, who can get their bodies to look the worst. Like a 60 day fattest body challenge. Do it come on, didn't you guys hear pot bellies are in now.

You're too late Myles. Guy in the U.K. beat you to it.
