The workout last night was Elizabeth -
21-15-9
Squat cleans (60/40)
Ring Dips
Why are ring dips so hard? I have been trying FOREVER to get strong enough to do these without the band, but no luck so far. Sigh. Guess I'll just file them away on my list of cool things to learn how to do in 2009.
Matt L did GREAT yesterday. His squat cleans came a long way since last Saturday. We worked together after the workout last Saturday, and decided that his butt needed to go back at the same time his elbows came forward in the clean. Matt is VERY coachable, so he makes us look good!
I'd like to give the award for "most determined" to Brian. Admittedly, Brian has very inflexible hamstrings and hip flexors. He has to really fight for depth on every single squat, and squat cleans are no exception. Look at his determination!

A. I wish I looked as cool as Brit does with her torn hand.
B. Is it bad I didn't even recognize myself until I actually read what Jennie wrote?

A. While we all have our "cool looking" moments, no one will ever be as consistently cool looking as Brit.
B. You posed at 10:43PM. By that time, you're 7 beers deep. It's completely okay.

Jen, have you tried kipping with ring dips???? I try to stay strict, but Elizabeth is one where you just have to get through it and fast.
I can usually tear through the first round with a good solid kip, making the second a little more bearable.
It does feels more like cheating than kipping vs. strict pull ups.

Alright... I'll be THAT guy.
Brian, are you squeezing a turtle head from pokin' out? Or are you layin' one right there on the deck?
Hahahahahahahhahahaha... Oh, poop humour (the "u" is so Tucker gets it).
No, but seriously folks, 4 things:
3. After Fogo de Chao we should go see an Improv show at the theatre where I am taking classes (the Imrpov Olympic). It is kitty corner to Wrigley field. Super accessible by way of "El". I don't know if dinner will run us over passed showings but it is a thought we can play by ear.
1. Let's pick a date for Chad to come out and measure our fat to muscle ratios. And whatever else it is that he does... It HAS to be a Sunday. Many of you know that I am busy on Saturday and I don't get back into town until after 5. I am uber-excited for this. Does May 3rd sound good? Remember we have to get at least 16 peeps to roll out for this so... Tom, you're good at rounding people up and bringing them to the Fort. Worst comes to worse I am sure you can go to WDC (shhhh... I scrambled the name so they don't know which Tom I am talking about - it is really CDW - they give those guys shit in the morning when they use the showers after the 5:30am class) and lasso up so eager tub squatters.
4. Where are the avatars?
2. Sparkles, it only feels like cheating when you work out by yourself in your garage. Here, let's test that theory... You come to the Fort every time there is a ring dip WOD for the next 30 days. If you are stronger in ring dips by the end of the 30 days you have to come back to the Fort. If you are not, then you have to come back to the Fort.
Sound good? See you soon.
Zach
PS - was that clean enough of a comment for you, future Mrs. Bill Yundt? I didn't even say "Fuckin'"! Shit... It got me...

Weren't you there 2 Saturdays ago?
Maybe I'll come back in when we have "Zach's you just wait day", then after you get smoked on the workout we can call it the "Zach's going back in the closet day."
I can ring dip with the best of them, just suggesting a trick from the tool box to Jen.

LMAO
Sparkles, the fumes from your garage are making you cranky...
April 5, 2009, 4:28 pm
I would have thought it would at least make you cough up a date a explanation of the "just you wait and see day."
No fumes, just cold and dusty.
I am reading "Lone Survivor" (book that has to do with the operation in Afghanistan that killed a bunch of SEALs, of that group 2 hero WODs are named), I will donate it to the Fort's library so it can motivate more people. All I can say is what the author went through made me a little sick reading it, they are true heros.
