Making heavy stuff look light since 1982

February 25th, 2010, by

That's right folks, yesterday was Mark Ritchie's birthday! There's strong...and then there's Mark Ritchie strong. Happy Birthday Mark! We have an old tradition of allowing members to choose the workout on their birthday. Unfortunately for Mark, his choice didn't fit into Bill's programming. Don't worry though...we've worked his choice into the line up, and you'll be seeing it soon. (evil laugh)

Yesterday started with some heavy push presses 5-5-5-3-3-3. Carrie, Mark M., Mike K. and Ivy all put up more for 3 reps than ever before. Matter of fact, Carrie put up more for 3 reps than she's ever put up for even ONE rep. She got these new shoes about 2 weeks ago, and she has been UNSTOPPABLE. I'm dead serious. Just ask her. Keep your eyes on her...she's likely to be a fire breather before we see 2011!

The metcon was Fran, but with double unders

21-15-9
thrusters (50/35kg)
pull-ups
double unders
*Perform twice as many double unders per round as the other movements. 42 in round 1, 30 in round 2, and 18 in round 3.

There were some pretty impressive times yesterday. Most everyone finished in under 12:00, and  we even saw Pete finish in 6:17! WOWZA!

Congrats to Kristen, Brianna and Chris S for completing ramp-up last night. Welcome to the family!

  • Aint that the brakes, I request a WOD I want to do, and instead I get a variation of my least favorite WOD, thats like getting a kick in the stomach for your birthday instead of a hug. :)

  • I didn't even know Mark and I was in class with you! Happy belated 28th Birthday! Great job on this WOD. For as much as you say you hate it, you did awesome. That's probably because you wanted to get it over with as soon as possible.

  • Happy belated birthday Mark! And congrats to all you who just came out of Ramp Up. Looking forward to getting to know you!
