We would like to welcome our newest member Matt! Welcome!

Our class sizes are gradually growing. We had eight people at class this morning, and TEN people last night - our biggest class yet! We have a growing number of ladies interested in CrossFit. We're just about even with our number of men and number of women. One thing I'd like to point out is how hard all our ladies work! Our ladies come in and give it 100% every single time! GIRL POWER!

Circuit training is for girls.....CrossFit training is for HOT girls!

A quick update on our missing Crossfitter - he has been found! After many sleepless nights, and endless searching he finally turned up on our door step! Welcome home Mike!

We would like to welcome yet another new Crossfitter - welcome Matt!

One thing that Bill and I have decided is that we are going to start capturing the goals of our members. We have a great group of members, and almost all of them have different goals. Some want to build mass, others want to lean out...and some just want sexy shoulders for their wedding dress! By capturing your goals, we'll be able to customize a system for tracking your progress and extend every resource we have to helping you reach your goal. Nutrition plays a key role in how quickly you reach your fitness goals. We are your trainers and are here to help! Hopefully in the next week or two we will have a new fitness progress tracking system in place!

We're finally back from our vacation, and we're pumped to get started again! We now have Kyle and Laura starting their free week. Welcome!

One thing we have all noticed lately is how hard CrossFit can seem after a vacation. Several of our clients have experienced this after returning from a week in Mexico, and even Bill and I experienced this after 4 days on a houseboat. Granted, we brought a pair of kettlebells with us on the trip to try and keep up, but it wasn't the same. Be conscious of how you feel before you take a "break" from CrossFit, and how you feel once you return. I bet you'll wish you hadn't stopped!

No CrossFit houseboat trip would be complete without a picture of someone doing a handstand. Many thanks to Zach for doing a handstand on top of a moving houseboat. :-)

We had another newcomer tonight, everyone please welcome Leslie! HI LESLIE! Tonight was also Bill's Bithday workout. It has become a tradition at CrossFit Fire to let you choose the workout on your birthday. Bill chose a tough workout! We're all pretty glad Bill's birthday only comes once a year. ;-)

What are you waiting for!? Why haven't you come to check out our new facility, and see what CrossFit is all about!? If you'd like to stop by and just observe a class, you're more than welcome to. We do encourage participation, as CrossFit is not a spectator sport, but we'll settle for a visit.

I know we've said this before, but it's worth repeating. CrossFit is for people of ALL fitness levels. Whether you've been working out your whole life, or you've never worked out before - we can modify this program to help you reach your goals.

Tim was trying to impress all of us by doing a pullup without holding onto the bar. It kind of makes for a rough landing! He's such a good sport that he continues to come observe class, encourage other members and participate when he can!

We have a few newcomers this week, and they're starting off with a bang! A great big WELCOME goes out to Stacy, Kim, Jaime and Pete who all started their free week of fitness with us and our newest member Sparky!

Tonight's workout was a doozey! We did "Grindy", which is a combination of Grace and Cindy. Those of you unfamiliar with the wonders of this workout are missing a good one! Everyone liked the workout so much, they took a few moments of relaxation to let it all soak in.

We are up and running at our new location. Thank you to everyone who came and helped move, clean, drill and build! The new location is GREAT! We have much more space, and the drive is MUCH shorter for everyone!

We had some visitors from CrossFit Utah Valley last night. We had the immeasurable pleasure of meeting and working out with Nolan and Annie.

UPDATE TO WORKOUT SCHEDULE!!
In lieu of our Saturday morning class tomorrow (5/10/08) we will be unloading stall mats, moving equipment, and getting the new facility set up.....for time! We will meet at the fort (500 Wegner) at 9:00am, and we will have a truck full of stuff to unload. Anyone able to come help would earn themselves a high-five.

Who loves jumping pull ups!

Take a look everyone:

This is the new home of CrossFit Fire! Wednesday we signed a lease for this nearly 2,500 square foot facility. We will conduct our Saturday morning class at the Fire House Gym, but then the moving begins. We will need help getting stall mats from Farm & Fleet, as well as help moving the equipment. There is also some painting that needs to be done at the new location. (not sure if we'll get to that Saturday) Any and all help is appreciated! The new location will give us plenty of room to grow, and will hopefully be a more convenient location for our clients.

New gym address:
500 Wegner Road
Unit E
Lakemoor, IL 60051

In OTHER news...Jennie set a new PR last night. She did 10 pull ups! Keep in mind that on 1/1/08 Jennie was unable to do even a single pull up.

Last week I had the immeasurable pleasure of meeting and working out with the guys from CrosFit Las Vegas. Thank you again to Joe and Zach for your generous hospitality!

We did our first CrossFit total last night, and it was definitely a learning experience. We have athletes of all strength levels....congratulations to Mike for having a CF total of almost 1,000lbs!

Here's Bill last night....he was definitely finding his intensity!
