It seems like lately we have more people than ever making the big switch-eroo over to a paleo lifestyle at the Fort. With any big lifestyle change, there are always a lot of questions. And you know what? THAT'S OK. Ask your questions! We are here to help in any way possible, so that you can be the fittest, healthiest person you can be!
One of the unspoken questions that seems to hang in the air revolves around serving your guests when they come for dinner.
"But my parents are coming for dinner, and they LOVE dinner rolls."
"If I don't serve mashed potatoes, my friends will FLIP!"
"We always have corn bread on Thanksgiving, and I don't want to disappoint anyone."
Along with these questions, there comes the subtle concern about people thinking you're "weird". You don't want to be THAT PERSON. That...weirdo who doesn't eat grains! But you know what? If you didn't say anything to your dinner guests, nobody would ever question the absence of dinner rolls!
A couple weekends ago, we had a small dinner party for some of our friends. Check out the spread!
Do you know anyone who wouldn't be ECSTATIC to see that dinner laid out for them? Here's what we served:
Salad: Curried pecans, goat cheese, baby spinach, sliced apples (I think. Carrie made the salad! BEST SALAD EVER)
Main Course: Chili Crusted Flank Steak with Homemade mango salsa
Roasted Asparagus with lemon, pepper and fresh garlic
Dessert: (not pictured) homemade Dark Chocolate covered strawberries
Um...can you say, YUM!? It was without a doubt a fabulous dinner that anyone (paleo or not) would enjoy. If you don't make a big deal out of your new primal lifestyle, nobody will ever know the difference.
So get out there, find some paleo recipes, and start entertaining!

Chili crusted flank steak w/ mango salsa and a goat cheese salad to boot...all I have to say is why the heck have you been hiding those recipes from us for so long? Half the time I feel like I'm banging two rocks together in my kitchen trying to make fire and you guys are walking around with lighter fluid and a blow torch...hows about throwing us a few more tasty bones?

Funny you posted this, because Brit and I entertained some close friends, my brother, and his girlfriend 2 weekends ago and we served nothing BUT paleo food for appetizers and main course. After dinner was over, my buddy said that was the best food he has had in a very long time....little did he know it was actually very healthy for him and strictly PALEO. We served spicy pecans/walnuts (everyone must get this recipe from Brit, they are amazing) and deviled eggs made w/ avocado, jalapenos, lime juice, fresh garlic, and the yolks. tastes almost like guacamole deviled eggs! Dinner was bacon wrapped asparagus, filets and chicken breasts, and sweet potato fries. even the drinks were paleo (seltzer water & lime) since my friends were on meds and pregnant and apparantly i have given up adult beverages for lent. such a loser......
