What would be the perfect ending to our benchmark week? Any suggestions? Hmm? How about FIGHT.GONE.BAD.
In place of our regularly scheduled Team Saturday, we did Fight Gone Bad. This workout brings butterflies to tummies around the world when it's on the roster for the WOD. The workout is a rotation of 5 exercises. You do each station for 1:00 trying for as many reps as possible. After you have done each station once, you'll get 1:00 to rest....then you repeat that twice for a total of three rounds. (Wall ball, SDHP, Box Jumps, Push Press, Row)
Now, there are certain truths about the universe, and I'll share them with you:
- Your eyeballs will not actually pop out of your head while you're doing handstands
- CrossFit is a cult
- Coach Rippetoe is the most quotable human being on Earth
- It is impossible to count your own reps during Fight Gone Bad
With all that being said, we paired up and went at this workout in two groups. People looked around and chose their partners wisely knowing that it would be their partner's responsibility to not only count for them, but also keep them moving for 15:00 NO MATTER WHAT. Pete and Tom paired up, and their intensity was about an 11 on a scale of 1-10. Pete came out of the gates with 55 reps of Push Press. Do a double take....because that was 55 REPS OF PUSH PRESS. Nice work Pete on the push press, and on your PR!
We were joined by Myles (Mariah's brother) of CrossFit Avalanche. He is a good buddy of CrossFit Fire, a total bad-ass and a proud uncle! Congratulations Mariah and Ben on your beautiful CrossFitter bundle of joy! SEND US PICTURES ALREADY!!!
Everyone did a great job pushing through and taking things to the next level. Beth did this one as prescribed for the first time, and did phenomenal! One of my favorite quotes from the day came from Bill and Zach.
Bill: "Hey, did Stacy do it as prescribed?"
Zach: (pointing to Stacy laying on the floor) "Look at her....do you THINK she did it as prescribed?!"

A side note to add to your four truths:
Don't catch a 14# ball with your forehead.
And mad props to Matt for pushing through all the suck, even while finishing sets not with rowing, but with wall balls! (Ugh!
)
Mariah! Congratulations!!
Get some rest while you can! ;D

What did Pete do with the other 5 seconds of his one second a rep PP. Tage a huge break or strap into the rower?

I vouche for Pete here - he went balls out for the full minute, EVERY minute sparky. I know this for 2 reasons:
--> 1) I saw it firsthand
--> 2) I was yelling at him (completely unsympahetically I might add) to keep him working the full minute.
His final minute in round 3 ended with Box Jumps and it was the hugest effort I have ever seen. Sick!

ahh! We missed another good one. I told Mark that you guys did this on Saturday and he was bummed! I hope we are around the next time you do this.

I would never say Pete did not do it. Pete is a beast. That fast and that much work he probably could not hear you yelling. Just blood thumping in the ears. Great effort. I am going after FGB later this week.
Is this prep for FGB IV? Bill or Jennie, are you guys holding a FGB IV fundraiser?

Oh no no no - you didn't imply that he didn't do that, Sparky. Not in the least. When I read it I didn't think you meant it that way either.
I just chimed in to provide more color on what I saw. And what I saw is what you and I both would agree - an amazing effort. So, no - all good there m'man. For the first set of 55, he didn't stop 1 time - perhaps just slowed enough to fall to a pace just slightly slower than 1 second per rep.

Dude, I was thinking more like a park, as I can't just head off to the beach downtown on a whim like you single guys without kids/responsibilities. Bill was saying Sunday early afternoons work for him, possibly some other C-Fit folks who can't stand a day without seeing you two would join us.
