Pete wiff his weight vest!

Pete wiff his weight vest!

okay guys.   i know most of you are thinking, "wait a sec!  zach is running the Fort?!?!?!?  the same zach that was doing the worm at Billifer's wedding?  the SAME zach that has bruises all over his body from crashing in a hotel luggage cart (multiple times)?  it certainly can't be the same zach that was thrown into the pool on friday night because he was piss drunk, could it?

YES!  it is, and i couldn't be more proud.  i couldn't wait for Billifer to be off in where ever it is they went, oh yeah, Texas or something, right?  well it was SOMEWHERE tropical...

i am a post behind but nobody showed up for the 7 pm on monday evening so i figure we're even.  there have been 5 classes since monday morning and all of them have been exceptional.  working with more of you is absolutely a pleasure and it is surely going to help me so many ways.

tonight's classes were especially spectacular for a couple of reasons: 1.  Kilo almost lost 60kg into the wall and that would have put Clark and Pete's little holes to shame. 2. Clark's shoulder almost slid down the side of his rib cage during his final set of 3 OH Squats and last (butt not least) Pete did the metcon portion of the WOD with a 20lb weight vest.   fan-fing-tastic!  today's WOD consisted of 5-5-5-3-3-3 OH Squats.  which, by the way, we have never done as a strength effort.  some of us have done them in a metcon and peeps who tried out for the Affiliate Challenge saw them in those WODs.  i hope everyone marked in their book, with great detail, their OH Squat experience today.  we finished off with a 15:00 metcon of AMRAP 100m sprints and max rep pull-ups.  shout-out to Nathan as he creamed the las couple rounds in the 100m.  you were flying, brother!  i love seeing Nathan empty his tank in almost every final stretch of every metcon.

cheers to everybody for the last couple days of hard work.  we all hope to see as many people show up in the next few days as possible.

apologies go out to Kilo for yelling at him as he left the Fort today.  i was just playin' dawg!  also to Petey for the use of vulgarity.  i will try to stop f-ing swearing.  oh yeah, and one last thing: please, please, please give me your feedback.  i rarely take anything seriously except for all of your successes.  don't hesitate to tell me if i need to do something different.  i'm not going to promise that i listen to you, but i will consider it :)

well... that's all she wrote.  by she i mean me because i am woman... which if you saw kelli and stacy kill the WOD today you wouldn't think that is so bad!  look to the white boards for events coming up.

  • Awesome post, Zach. Jennie should give you the reigns on the site more often. Definitely adds a new element to the CFF website!

I'd also like to comment on Nate...the guy is putting up PRs almost daily now, and he absolutely kills it on every metcon. I thought Garth, Tom and Pete were the guys to beat...now Nate is starting to make me nervous!

Pete, we miss you in the mornings...come back.

  • Love the enthusiasm, Mayor Zach! You and your F!-bombs. Unreal.

    Feedback for you as requested:
    - Tommy Mo loves you. Always will.
    - Always very positive and upbeat, even in your writing. Shout outs to everyone, though I besty Super Dave is upset you didn't mention him. It's okay Dave.

    - Dude! Do you know how to crop an image? WOW!
    - Spell/Grammar check. Jennie Yundt is going to string you up if you don't correct your mistakes. You know what a stickler she is.

Oh! Did I mention Tommy Mo loves you? Even though you cut us short today on the last 2 sets of 3 reps you bastage!

  • Great workouts this week Zach. I'm trashed! My shoulders and back are toast. You won't often hear me say it but I sure am glad Thursday is a rest day!

ps - Saturday outing at Picnic Grove Park in Fox River Grove for boating, grilling and Hoover Ball. The weather is supposed to be phenomenal. Anybody interested in boating can meet us down at the pier in Algonquin around noon at 1825 N River Rd. Otherwise, meet us at the park which is in the neighborhood just SE of the bridge on S NW HWY 14. The park is on Birch Lane.

  • My favorite is no longer, what the french toast, but...wait for it....

    for Fox Lake..!

  • This workout was much more difficult then what I was anticipating. I wanted to do the whole thing weighted, but realized after 13, 5 Kg weighted pull ups, it was NOT going to happen. I was extremely sore the next 3 days. Well worth the attempt though.
-Zach you tried to deny me on this one. You should know by now, you can't tell me NO! :)

  • From what I hear, it put Dave and Matt down hard. Dave can't raise his arms up over his head? Ouch! I expect Pete feels just fine. He's crazy!

  • Garth is right, it's true -- Tuesday's workout left me so sore that I haven't been able to come back to the Fort! I truly cannot lift my arms up over my head...not sure if it was from the overhead squats (holding the weight up there) or all of the pullups. Either way, that is the most sore I've ever been at the Fort!

I'll be back on Saturday, though. Zach, just don't scold me if the workout involves some type of overhead press and I don't get a full lockout!

  • Garth, you believe this? All of these young guys complaining of injuries and soreness.

    WOW. HA HA HA.

    Old Guys = Dad Strength

  • I feel great! Kicked some serious ass in this morning's WOD. I'm a little sore but I never let that slow me down. I guess Matt and Dave will learn what real mental toughness is over the next couple of years? Until then, we'll just have to keep showing them up!
